Small Touch Monitor

Small touch monitors are the compact end of this site's range: the 7 inch and 8 inch models. This category page gathers those two models for buyers who need a small screen, whether for a compact control panel, a small viewing position or a portable-style terminal. It is a category page that links to two product pages, and it does not split the small models into further products.

What small means here

Screen size is only the diagonal measurement of the display, and it does not by itself describe a monitor. Two monitors of the same size can differ in resolution, in aspect ratio, in brightness, in touch type and in overall dimensions, because the housing and the mounting form add their own measurements. A buyer comparing sizes should therefore read the full specification for each model, including the overall dimensions and the interface list, rather than ranking models by size alone. The product pages on this site keep each model's figures separate for exactly this reason.

The 7 inch model measures 183 by 130 by 35 millimetres as listed, and the 8 inch model measures 198 by 163 by 36 millimetres as listed. Both use plastic housings with built-in speakers as listed, and both offer the same interface list: HDMI, VGA, AV, USB and BNC. The difference between them is size, aspect ratio and resolution: the 7 inch model is 16:9 at 1024 by 600 with a 600:1 contrast ratio as listed, while the 8 inch model is 4:3 at 1024 by 768 with a 400:1 contrast ratio as listed. Both are listed at 400 candela per square metre brightness and 60 hertz refresh rate.

When a small screen is the right choice

A small screen suits a compact control panel, a small machine front, a single-feed viewing position or a terminal where space is tight. It does not suit a layout that needs many lines of text or many camera feeds at once, because small text becomes hard to read and a split screen becomes crowded. A buyer should therefore check the content that will be shown, not just the available space: if the content needs a larger layout, a 10.1 inch or 11.6 inch model is a better choice even when a small screen would fit.

Touch choice is one of the first decisions in an industrial monitor enquiry, and it should be made from the way the screen will actually be used. A resistive touch layer responds to pressure, so it can be operated with a gloved hand or a stylus, while a capacitive touch layer responds to the touch of a finger and suits a familiar swipe-and-tap style of use. Neither type is better in every setting: the right choice depends on gloves, on whether a stylus will be used, on cleaning routines and on how the screen will be mounted. The model pages on this site state the touch type listed for each model, and where a model lists touch as optional, the enquiry should state which touch type is wanted so the correct version is quoted.

Touch choice for small screens

The 7 inch model lists resistive touch, while the 8 inch model lists resistive or capacitive touch optional. For a small control screen, resistive touch suits gloved or stylus use, while capacitive touch suits finger taps. The enquiry should name the wanted touch type for the 8 inch model, because the optional wording means the version must be specified. Both models list a 60 hertz refresh rate and DC 12 volt power, with different current ratings: 1 ampere for the 7 inch model and 2 amperes for the 8 inch model, as listed.

Enquiry checklist

Before sending an enquiry, note the screen size, touch type, interface list, quantity and application, and whether the monitor will be open frame, embedded or panel mounted. Minimum order quantity and lead time are unavailable on this site and are confirmed per model in the enquiry. Quotations are confirmed per order.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a quotation?

Send an enquiry with the size, touch type, interface list and quantity you need, plus the application. Quotations are confirmed per order, and specifications are confirmed per model before payment. This site does not list fixed selling figures.

What certification documents can you provide?

CCC, CE, FCC and RoHS are stated by the company. Certificates are available upon request. If a buyer needs a certificate for a specific model, ask for it in the enquiry and name the model, so the correct document can be checked.

Are the specifications on this page valid for every model?

No. Specifications are shown per model and must not be read across the whole range. Where a value is not listed for a model, the page says to confirm per model rather than filling in a generic figure.
